Our aim at Laithes is to promote an open environment in which children and young people are encouraged to ask any questions and participate in an ongoing conversation about the benefits and risks of the online world. Children start their E-Safety journey each year identifying their ‘trusted adults’ both in school and at home. This term is referred to throughout lessons and discussions surrounding staying safe online so children are reassured they have someone to speak to who they feel at ease with wherever they are.
In EYFS and Key Stage 1 , children recite the rhyme from 'Smartie the Penguin' and posters are displayed in class to remind themselves how to stay safe online.
In Key Stage 2, children learn the SMART acronym to remember steps to consider when accessing all types of online activity.

Alongside this, children participate in completing weekly E-Safety learning logs which promotes discussion and highlights current topics/issues as they arise surrounding E-Safety as well as half termly assemblies with a different focus each time.
