BROADENING HORIZONS FOR ALL CHILDREN REGARDLESS OF BARRIERS THEY MAY FACE.

WHAT WE DO
SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE TO LEARN IN THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL WAY, TO HAVE THEIR OWN PLACE IN SOCIETY AND EQUIP THEM WITH THE ACADEMIC SKILLS AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE LIFE SKILLS TO BE AS INDEPENDENT AS POSSIBLE, IN THEIR LIVES TO COME.

WHO IS THIS SPECIALIST PROVISION FOR?
THE HUB IS A UNIQUELY DESIGNED LEARNING SPACE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN WITH COMPLEX LEARNING AND COMMUNICATION NEEDS, WHO REQUIRE A SPECIALISED, INDIVIDUALISED AND SPECIFIC APPROACH TO LEARNING. HERE AT THE HUB EACH CHILD HAS THEIR OWN SPECIFIC LEARNING JOURNEY WHICH IS DESIGNED AROUND THEIR INTERESTS AND INDIVIDUAL TARGETS.

LEARNING IS TAUGHT IN SMALL CHUNKS, SUPPORTED WITH PHYSICAL APPLICATION AND UNDERPINNED WITH LIFE SKILLS ON WHICH TO EMBED SKILLS. LEARNING OUTSIDE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IS WHAT WE STRIVE TO DO, ALONGSIDE ACCESSING LOCAL LEISURE FACILITIES TO BUILD WATER CONFIDENCE AND ACCESSING LOCAL TRANSPORT AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES EXPLORING THE WORLD AROUND US.

Admissions
For a child to gain a place in The Hub they will need to have an annual review in line with the Local authority policy and SEN Code of practice and within this Specialist provision will need to be requested. This will then be considered by the Local Authority ORG panel which will then decide on future placements for children. Applying for the mainstream school will not automatically grant your child a place or mean that your child can transfer to the provision. The provision caters for all children across Barnsley and is subject to a consultation visit/ review by the SENCO.
